My Fathers House

Dr. Joseph A. Grady was born in 1921 in Wakefield Ma.  As a boy, his family would visit the beaches of Kennebunk where he fell in love with all things Maine. He continued to dream of the day that he would return one day with his own children.  In 1972 after the birth of his fifth child, Joe Grady decided to purchase a modest summer home on Sea Road where the family could summer each August. Then in 1985, after a huge retirement celebration of 45 years of service in medicine, he and his beautiful wife decided it was time to pack up the family wagon one last time and make the trek from Michigan to Maine and proudly claim 219 as their permanent residence.

Joe Grady will fondly and forever be remembered for his mischievous & twinkling eyes, his impeccable taste, dry sense of humor, and his pronunciation of park (pahk), blueberry's (blue-bries), & potatoes (ba-da-das).  Always a lover of nature, animals, and dedicated in service to those less fortunate, his legacy continues to inspire his surviving wife, children, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren.

We love you Dad, and it's with deep gratitude that we continue to enjoy the beauty of this magical place called Kennebunk Maine
